How to Enable 2FA for Google

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds a second layer of protection to your Google Account. Even if someone steals your password, they cannot sign in without the 6-digit code generated on your device. Setting it up with Authenticator App takes about two minutes.

  1. Go to myaccount.google.com/security and sign in to your Google Account.
  2. Under How you sign in to Google, select 2-Step Verification and click Get started.
  3. Follow the prompts to confirm your password, then choose Authenticator app as a verification method.
  4. Google will display a QR code. Open Authenticator App on your iPhone, tap +, and scan the QR code.
  5. Enter the 6-digit code shown in Authenticator App to verify the setup.
  6. Click Turn on to finish. Your Google Account is now protected with 2FA.

Tip: Save your Google backup codes in a safe place. If you ever lose your device, they let you regain access to your account.
